The premium anti-reflective coating for clear and hassle-free vision featuring CleanGuard™ technology
ZEISS DuraVision® Gold UV combines clear vision with bold, stylish design. It represents the pinnacle of technological innovation within the esteemed ZEISS DuraVision coating portfolio. This advanced anti-reflective (AR) coating has been meticulously engineered to address the critical needs of spectacle lens wearers, delivering an exceptional combination of optical clarity, cleanliness, user convenience, robustness, and aesthetic sophistication.
By incorporating the proprietary CleanGuard technology, the ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV coating substantially improves smudge resistance and cleaning efficiency, being three times faster to clean compared to earlier ZEISS coatings, thereby simplifying maintenance procedures. Real-life testing has demonstrated that, even after 14 months of use, wearers report a consistent ease of cleaning, comparable to the initial condition. It also features a patented 3-layer anti-static system that keeps your lenses clean and clear.
Advanced CleanGuard Technology
The coating composition of ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV with CleanGuard technology is shown in Figure 2. It comprises a hydro- and oleophobic topcoat, and an multi-layer anti-reflective (AR) coating stack of inorganic oxides that also incorporates a patented metallic oxide layer dissipating static electricity, thereby repelling dust. The ion assisted coating deposition ensures a super dense layer packaging resulting in high abrasion resistance.

ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV delivers excellent hardness and abrasion resistance for clear, long-lasting vision. Backed by over 80 years of expertise in anti-reflective coatings, this innovative coating process begins with a specially designed thermally-cured hard coat applied to the lens substrate. This hard coat enhances the stability between the lens and the brittle AR coating. To enhance adhesion, the hard coat undergoes ion bombardment before the first anti-reflective layers are applied. Multiple ultra-thin layers of metal and ceramic oxides are then deposited once again using ion bombardment. The result: densely packed layers that provide both anti- reflective properties and superior scratch resistance. The Bayer ratio is the industry standard for evaluating scratch resistance. A ratio above 10 is considered a very high rating. ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV surpassed expectations with an impressive average Bayer ratio of 16* – for lenses that stay clear and resilient over time.
