Vision Insurance can be used for a basic vision check, eyeglasses, lenses, and contacts.
Many patients use both types of insurance for the same visit! Our team is happy to verify your benefits before your appointment so you know exactly what's covered.
Please note:
-
We do not accept Medicaid for medical or vision services.
-
If you are unsure whether your plan is accepted, our team is happy to verify your benefits before your visit.
Out of Pocket & Self- Pay Options:
For patients without insurance, or for services not covered, we offer affordable self-pay options and accept CareCredit.

Medical
Navigating insurance for eye care can be confusing. When you have a medical condition that affects your eyes, such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, or cataracts, your medical insurance can provide comprehensive coverage for an eye exam.
This type of exam goes beyond a simple vision check. It focuses on your overall eye health and is designed to diagnose, monitor, or treat medical problems that could impact your vision. This ensures you receive the essential care needed to preserve your eyesight. As an added benefit, you can still get your updated prescription for glasses and contact lenses during the appointment.
We accept a wide range of medical insurance plans, including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, HealthFirst, United Healthcare, EmblemHealth, Medicare, TriCare East, Humana and many others.

Vision

A routine vision exam includes assessing vision, checking for refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, and providing a prescription for glasses or contact lenses if needed. A vision plan can also provide material coverage or discounts for glasses and contacts.
We accept Eyemed, Spectera, and VSP for vision insurance plans at Ocean Eye Care.
